Sea Toy wins 26th Annual

Pirate's Cove Billfish Tournament

Sea Toy scored big at the 26th Annual Pirate's Cove Billfish Tournament, taking home top prizes in the team awards, team jackpots and a daily award for a grand prize package of $274,429. Captain Bull Tolson commanded the Sea Toy, bringing in 22 billfish releases for the week. Pelican, captained by Arch Bracher, came in 2nd with 19 releases for total winnings of $84,771. Caroline, captained by Watson Caviness, rounded out the top three with 17 releases for the week for a total prize of $56,514.

Sea Hag was the other big winner Friday night, taking home $173,151 for their blue marlin catch and a daily award win.

Top angler awards went to Billy Duerr of Sea Hag for his 755 lb blue marlin catch, Kelli Roof of Game On for top lady angler, and Dwight Wolf II, age 15, of Sea Wolf for top junior angler.

Franchise Sails was the winner in this year's new small boat category for crafts 38' and under. Franchise Sails, captained by John Cohen, Jr., released 7 billfish this week to win $2,152.50.

The wahoo finally showed up at the weigh station on Friday after being absent from the scales all week. Lee McLamb of Magic Moment won top prize for his 44.55 lb wahoo catch. In the dolphin category, Tim Letchford of Miss Sadie brought in a 30.15 lb dolphin on Friday to jump into first place. Mark Schwarts of Kemosabe held onto first place the entire week with his 63.75 lb tuna caught on Tuesday. The prize for first in each category was $5,206.15.

Last Day to Score Big

The Pirate's Cove Billfish Tournament goes into its last day of fishing on Friday. We've seen 262 billfish released in the past three days and expect another great day on the water with 67 boats fishing on Friday.

Sea Hag Boats 755 lb Blue

Angler Billy Duerr on board the Sea Hag landed a 755 lb. Blue Marlin yesterday for a dramatic night weigh-in at the 26th Annual Pirate's Cove Billfish Tournament. A large crowd was on-hand at Pirate's Cove Marina to witness the prize catch.
